I have many fond memories of Sizewell Hall. I used to come here for weekends away with my church when I was a kid. The place seemed so big back then as I was only small at the time, so big I almost got lost once or twice. Sometimes I even tried to get lost (well lost to other people anyway, you know how children are). I used to play hide and seek both in the house and in the grounds. I remember once I was so well hidden I had to give myself up after about two hours! It was during this time that I was hidden in the grounds near the gazebo that is probably my fondest memory. I was just sat there for so long I almost forgot why I was there. I remember just lying there looking up at the sky and I felt so relaxed, like I had not a care in the world. It was true peace, really an amazing feeling. This is truly a place to come and unwind and leave the cares of the world behind you. This place has so many happy memories from my childhood that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

looking for info re Sizewell weekend (for which my children have normally recieved info from school). They have attended and thoroughly enjoyed themselves for the last 3 years. Unfortunately found out about one too late for my daughter now 13yrs. My son has been told by a friend that there is one planned for July how do I get application form if not provided by their Church schools? Cannot find on the web - maybe i'm using wrong email? Or am I too early hope you can help?
thankyou

Hi

Many thanks for your enquiry.

In respect of your enquiry, I'm not sure what weekend you mean. We do not have school groups in July? At the end of July we have summer camps a week. The only groups that the school would inform children for is African Adventure but that is not weekend! So I am confused. Is it CYM youth groups? Some children might hear through school. If it is then contact CYM Ian France ian@c-y-m.org.uk or ring 01473 216712. They have 26-28 Feb 14-16 May, 11-13 June & 26-28 Nov. They do the bookings so you will need to contact them they have different age groups.

I hope I have been able to help with your enquiry.

I attened Sizewell Hall In 1977 and 1978 for summer camp with Pathfinders. My father was stationed at RAF Woodbridge and we attended church in Saxmundham. It was a turning point in my Christian life and I will never forget those two weeks. Thanks to all those past and present who work so hard to show the love of Christ to young men and women.

I'm the Archivist at Kingston University and we're currently working on cataloguing the records of theatre critic Sheridan Morley. Obviously as already stated on here he was a pupil at Sizewell, and we have a lot of his letters home from his time at the school, and the finishing school in Switzerland, which contain some great anecdotes and stories. They also mention many of the names that have already cropped up on here.
We would be very interested to hear from anyone with memories of Sheridan while at the school, and of the school itself- please get in touch at archives@kingston.ac.uk
